BACKGROUND ON SUMMER FESTIVAL
The Platform's annual Summer Festival-- 2002's summer will be the 30th-- gives selected plays by participants an opportunity for workshop level stagings: currently, in the Mass College of Art's Tower Auditorium. Boston audiences are offered the opportunity to be part of the process of creating new works for the theatre. Playwrights are involved in every aspect of their own productions, from selection of a director through casting, rehearsals, publicity, right down to house management on opening night. This year there are cash prizes for the play judged "best of show", and for the audience favorite.

Dates and venue for the 31st Annual Festival are TBA.
Submissions of one-acts and full lengths are due at the first February meeting of each year, and should be accompanied by an application form which can be picked up at any meeting during the preceding month.
While Platform meetings and membership are open to any writer- or actor or critic, or ordinary theatre fan- who wishes to join, Festival submissions are only accepted from writers who have participated in the face to face process of Sunday night readings and critiques. Festival production is the next step for a script developed through in-house readings.
