Playwrights' Platform is Boston's only cooperative developmental theatre for new plays.
We hold regular readings of new works, and each summer we produce a
festival of new plays.
We have been helping to develop new theatre in the Boston area for thirty years!
Twice a month, from September through May, the group presents readings of new works by local playwrights at our meetings, which are free and open to the public. Each reading is followed by a lively discussion and feedback session with the playwright, to help the writer discover the strengths and weakness of the current draft and plan revisions to be made in the next.
There are currently no meetings scheduled. We will add new dates to our calendar sometime in the summer. Please see our calendar for more information.
New members are welcomed and encouraged to participate, through submitting plays, acting in them, or simply by attending readings.
The Platform's annual Summer Festival gives selected plays an opportunity for workshop-level staged production in a professional-quality theatre, allowing the scripts fuller development and exposure, and offering Boston audiences the opportunity to be part of the process of creating new dramatic work.
