LIS ADAMS has enjoyed performing in New York, Boston, and with
many area theater groups, playing everything from murderous little old
ladies to tap-dancing nuns.  Lis appeared in such films as “The World
According to Garp” and “Daniel,” and she has been featured in commercial
voiceovers for both film and radio.  Most recently her voice has toured the
country in the award-winning animated film “Unspoken,”  and she can be heard
as multiple voices in the video game “System Shock 2.”  She sings with the
award-winning Sweet Adelines International’s Liberty Belle Chorus, and serves
in her daytime job as Director of Education at Orchard House, home of Louisa

Zele

(Zele Avradopoulos)

Age Range 30-45

Zele returned to the US after having lived in Athens, Greece for 13 years.  While in
Greece she taught at international schools and instigated the revival of a small English-
speaking theatre company.  Since her return, she worked at the Allenberry Playhouse,
has shot a commercial, a few student films and an indie short.  Recently she worked

This is PENNY BENSON’S second year as an Actor in Residence. She was
honored at the Playwrights' Platform Festival as winner for Best Actor in '06,
and runner up in '07. Recent stage performances include: Family Beef
(SCRAMBLED by Brett Hursey and IT HAS NO CHOICE by Ed Bullens,)
Playwrights' Platform Festival '07 (DRESS REHEARSAL by Hortense Gerardo,)
the Boston Theater Marathon / Dragonfly Festival (NOT ON MY WATCH by

She performs regularly on KidStage at the Boston Childrens' Museum and
teaches in the Huntington Theater's FIRST ACT program. Penny is also an artist

Kate Blair

Age range: 40’s – 60’s

Kate has acted in theater, television and film since the age of five, and has worked
in many of the community theaters in the Boston area. Some of her favorite roles
include Sandy in The Prime of Miss Jean Brody, Mrs. Morehead in The Women
and Sister Mary Thomasina in Catholic School Girls. She can be seen in several
episodes of Showtime’s The Brotherhood, and will soon be seen as one of the
many grooms’ mothers in the film Twenty Seven Dresses. Her voice can be
heard on several commercials for Eaton Pharmacy, playing an old lady and her

Shelly Brown

Age Range: 45 plus

Shelley Brown studied acting at SUNY Albany and Tufts University and has
performed with theater companies throughout the Boston area for more than 25
years. As a member of the AIR program, she participated in the 2007 Playwrights
Platform festival, playing the role of Sarah in Regina Eliot-Ramsey's A Perfect
Stranger. Other recent roles include Nurse (The Flu Season, Whistler in the
Dark Theater); R ose (Enchanted April, Arlington Friends), Arkadina (The Sea
Gull, TheatreZone), Bernarda Alba (The House of Bernarda Alba, TheaterZone),
Mrs. Webb (Our Town, Boston Theater Works), Lady Eastlake
(The Countess, Nora Theater), Bananas (House of Blue Leaves, Vokes).
As a member of the ensemble in SpeakEasy's production of The Women (2006),
Shelley won an Irne award. She was previously nominated for an IRNE
for her performance as Bessie in Marvin's Room (Theater Cooperative).

Andrew Cavanaugh

Age range 13-16

Andrew Cavanaugh made his stage debut as the lead in his kindergarten
class play. He loved it so much he never looked back! As a student at
the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, he has the distinction of
booking professional work from his first audition. Andrew made his
Boston debut as David in the Boston Conservatory's production of Rags
and his professional debut as Tiny Tim in Trinity Rep's Boston
production of A Christmas Carol. Andrew is also an accomplished
musician, playing euphonium and electric guitar as well as singing
tenor. He was chosen to participate in SEMSBA and Districts the last 3
years and was selected as first chair for 2008 Districts. He runs
competitively for his high school and is an active Boy Scout with the

Laura DeCesare

Laura DeCesare has been working with the Platform since 2003, when
she appeared in thesummer festival as Juleen in Joyce Flynn's "Faraway."
Other favorite roles of  Laura's include Emily in "Our Town" and Sophie in
"The Star-Spangled Girl," as well as a variety of other plays, films and local
television projects.  She also sings, plays guitar and piano, dances and bakes

William DeCoff

Age Range: 35-50

William DeCoff lives in Danvers Mass.  He has appeared in over 50 films and
TV shows in the past 5 years alone. This past season appeared in Showtime's
"Brotherhood" where he plays Charlie Walsh a corrupt street fighting Providence
Police officer.  When he isn't terrorizing people on screen he is a loving doting
father and uncle. He is a Massage Therapist working out of Comeau Health
associates in Danvers. He specializes in relaxation therapy, Polarity and Reflexology.

Steve Denson has returned to “Active Duty” in the Arts after a health and life event enforced hiatus.
He has comprehensive experience in the Performing Arts and in Performing Arts Management
and Administration, in Education at all levels from K through Graduate School, in business,
and in Church Music. He has also had professional experience in publications, development and

Mikey DiLoreto

Mikey DiLoreto is an East Boston denizen who holds a B.A. in Dramatic Literature and
Theatre. He has worked with several companies all over the Boston and Greater Boston
area including Loki Arts, Bad Habit Productions, SouthCity Theatre Company, Useless
Theatre Company, Mill 6 Collaborative, and Dangerous Animals. Mikey was also awarded
an “Outstanding Student Director” nomination from the Kennedy Center American College

Karen Dervin

Age range 30-40.

Karen’s theatrical career began at the tender age of 3 and she has been addicted to
the bright lights ever since. After winning the Drama Award in 8th grade, she knew
she was destined for greatness. Indeed, a stellar career has followed: she has played
dogs, ducks, monkeys, and the occasional human- proving that versatility (and various
animal noises) is her strength. She has performed locally with multiple theater groups
including Acme Theater, Arlington Friends of the Drama, the Hovey Players, the
Quannapowitt Players, and the TCAN Players.  You may have also seen her as an

Franci Dumar

Age Range: 8 - 12

Franci DuMar is a fifth grader who loves acting, singing and dancing. 
She has performed in two Open Fields productions (Dover) and has
attended their drama camp for two summers.  Franci has performed in
readings at Playwrights' Platform and she recently played the role of TICK
in Away Message on the Word of Mouth live radio drama series for WBRS
Brandeis, Waltham.  Since age three, Franci has studied dance with Erin's
school of Dance (Dover) taking tap, ballet and jazz.  She can play characters
between 8-12.

Perri will be a junior in high school in the fall of 2008.  She has performed in readings at
Playwrights' Platform starting in 2005.  In 2006 she played TICK in New Digs for
the Playwrights' Platform Annual Summer Festival and was runner up for Best Actress. 
In 2006 she staged managed a prod uction of a short play, Bloom, at the Acme New
Works Winter Festival, Maynard, MA.  Perri's performance experience includes mixed
and womens chorus and show choir and participation in the North American Music
Festival in Washington, DC for the past two years.

Andrea Gordon, a native Washingtonian, began performing there as a young actor with Street
70 and Roundhouse Theater and later studied with JD Coburn at the Seattle Acting School.
Andrea made her Boston debut at the Playwrights’ Platform Summer Festival ’07 followed by
the Seven Deadly Sins Festival. She most recently appeared in The Last Supper by Doug

Michael Haddad

Age Range: early 20's - mid 30's

Michael is an actor/director/writer who bears the cross of serious addiction. For some it’s
alcohol, others are hooked on crack, some people are addicted to dressing dogs in people
clothes; but Mike's addiction is for theater. By day Mike is a mild mannered teacher of Latin
and the Classical Humanities at Lynn English High School. At night, when he's done corrupting
the youth of America, he likes nothing more than to work in and around the theater (I know, he's
sounds like a lame super hero). Mike has been involved in about 16 shows as an actor and
director for Devanaugn's Dragonfly Festivals (including playing Karl in Along for the Ride, winner
of the Samuel French Festival in 03). He won the Best Actor award for Playwright's Platform's '07
play festival. Most recently Mike was seen playing Dev Hart in Jim McLindon's Distant Music and
directing the production of Titus Andronicus for MI T's Shakespeare Ensemble. Feel free to contact

Joletta Hardiman

Age Range:  15-28

Joletta Hardman has been in theatre for the past 10 years and has acted most recently
with the Resident Children’s Theatre at the Winnipesauke Playhouse (NH) and Stage
One (CA), as well as worked with Seaside Music Theatre (FL), and the Studio Theatre
(DC). Some of her favorite theatre roles include Diana in A Chorus Line, Vera in She Must
Marry a Doctor, the Gondolier in The Aging Magician, and Chris in Rumors. She recently
established a videography company called Joletta Productions™ in ’07, which now proudly
serves the local New England area. Though an actress she may be, Joletta dabbles in playwriting
as well and produced her short play “Green Dream, Black Proposal” on the SFSU stage in ’06.

Sonya is honored to be a new member of the Actors In Residence program. 
She began acting in 2003 and can’t get enough.  Her most recent and favorite
role was as Juror 8 in Twelve Angry Jurors with Theatre@First.  Other
performances include: Dryope in Common (Lotis) with Essayons Theatre Company;
River Of Babylon (Samantha) with Playwright’s Platform; Rhinoceros (Firewoman)
with TheatreZone; and many SLAMBoston performances with Another Country

Ellen Lokos

Age range: late 30's and up.
Ellen Lokos is delighted to be returning as Actor in Residence with Playwrights’ Platform,
where she has performed in Dan Bancroft's Choices and was honored with an audience
choice award for her role as Dr. Crystal Ramirez in Frank Shefton's Wounds. Ellen is
active in local theater, improv, film, voiceover and commercials. She played the title role in
the Boston premier of Edith Stein by Arthur Giron. Other favorite theatrical roles include
Flora in A Perfect Analysis Given by a Parrot; Lady in Orpheus Descending; Maggie in
The Shadow Box; Sister Mary Ignatius in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It all for You; and
the inimitableMiss Voglia Cannoli in Murder Cacciatore. In a previous incarnation, Ellen was a
professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at Harvard University. Prior to that, she
worked on camera in Madrid, interviewing and interpreting on a weekly television newsmagazine.
Most recently Ellen worked on Disney’s The Game Plan and MGM’s Pink Panther 2 in Boston.

Claire McClanahan

Age Range: 20 - 35

Claire McClanahan has been an actress her whole life.  Starting out in the
Minneapolis theatre scene as a child and adolescent she worked her way into
the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Webster University in St. Louis and
obtained a degree in theatre from Western Illinois University where she trained
in everything from the classics and Shakespeare to contemporary theatre, stage
combat and dance.  In 1998 she moved to New York City where she studied
with Michael Howard, embarked on a national musical theatre tour, and had
the opportunity to play a variety of dramatic and comedic roles in theatres
throughout Manhattan.  She can play parts ranging from early 20's to late
30's, is a trained singer (classical, musical theatre, jazz, R&B), is comfortable
with most dialects, and can play a mean Native American flute.  Claire moved
to the Boston area last November to take a job as a film and TV producer
and is looking forward to meeting others who want to j oin her quest to

Lida Mcgirr

Age Range: 37 plus

LIDA MCGIRR  Began her acting career at age 7 as leprechaun singing and
dancing at Nathan's Hot Dog Stand in Coney Island. She was one of the
three found ing members of Little Theater on 26th Street in NY where
she performed as the Logician and Mrs. Boeuf in "Rhinoceros." Some of
her favorite roles are Martha in "Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf?",
Shirley Valentine in "Shirley Valentine" and Abigail in "The
Crucible." She began directing her brothers in Peter Cottontail on
the back porch when they were 3 and 1 and has moved on to directing
mini-operas in protest of the discontinuation of "Saturday at the
Met", entertainment for Romance Novelist Conventions and productions
for local theaters. Her short plays have appeared in festivals,
women's clubs, senior groups, bakeries and annual meetings in Boston,

William (Bill) Miller - Age Range 50’s – 60’s

Bill spent 30 years as an actor performing in theaters across the country.  He studied at Case
Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and trained professionally with the Cleveland
Playhouse, completing the Equity Apprenticeship/Journeymanship program with CPH.  He has
appeared in over 80 productions in his career.  Some of his favorite roles are: The Bishop in Genet’s
‘The Balcony’ with Case Western Reserve; Clov in Beckett’s ‘Endgame’ with the Cleveland
Playhouse; Roy Wild in Paul Zindel’s ‘The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild’, Zoditch in Ronald

Bob Mussett has been a Boston-area actor for 9 years, and is pleased as punch to work
with the Playwright's Platform. He has previously worked with the development of new plays
at the WordBRIDGE Playwright's Laboratory in South Carolina, and the Eugene O'Neill Theater
Center in Connecticut. He has used the First Folio 'no rehearsal' approach to Shakespeare in
Threadbare Productions' Comedie of Errors and Julius Caesar, and acted as prompter in
John Marston's The Malcontent. Other recent roles include Seiffert in Conquest of the South Pole
(Molasses Tank Productions), Len in Objective, Peter in Surprise!, and Philip in Know When to

PHYLLIS RITTNER is the co-coordinator of the Actors in Residence Program. 
She is also a playwright, actress, voiceover artist and line coach.  Phyllis has
performed in over 25 theater productions in the Boston area.  Favorite roles
include Amanda in Private Lives, Louka in Arms and the Man, Lenny in Crimes
of the Hearts, Rose in Dancing at Lughnasa and Suzette in Don’t Dress for Dinner.

Alli Ritts

ALLI RITTS has had the pleasure and honor of participating in the reading and
performing of new plays for the past few years. She recently won "Best Actress"
award for this season's "Playwrights’ Platform. Alli has performed in many festivals
including “Playwrights’ Platform" , “Mill City Minutes”, and the “Hovey Summer
Shorts Festival” Other past roles include "Audrey" in Little Shop of Horrors and

Liz Rose

(Elizabeth Rose)

Elizabeth Rose has been performing in theater and as a classical dancer since she was young.
Her many theater  appearances include the Playwrights Platform Summer Festival this past June,
playing the role of Cin in Kelly DuMar’s Birds Egg Blue and the 2005 festival, playing Kristy in
Kelly DuMar’s award winning Bloom, and the role of Shannon in Patrick Brennan’s Bits.  Her
own short play, Words, also appeared during that festival run.  She has reprised the role of Kristy
in Bloom many times, most recently on Newton cable television.  Other stage appearances include
the role of Liz in Dinner for Several with the Medway Players, Anita’s War (selection/2004 AFD
Theater’s Short Takes Festival), the role of Meredith in K & K Productions’ Steambath, and
Help Wanted (selection/2004 Hovey Players’ Summer Shorts Festival).  As an actress, Ms.
Rose has also become immersed in the New England independent film community and has had
major roles in a number of films including the lead in Jodom Pictures’ A House Divided
(selection/2004New Hampshire Film Expo), the lead in Wolfgang Pictures’ What I want
(selection/ 2004 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival), the lead in Lono
Productions’ Rage Beautiful, a principal role in Flame Sky Productions’ Ring of the Bishop, as well

Teagan Rose

Teagan Rose is relatively new to the theater.  She was first seen on the stage this past
June in the role of Teen Angel in Kelly DuMar’s Birds Egg Blue at the Playwrights Platform
Summer Festival.  She has also read the role of Tick in Kelly DuMar’s Away Messae. 
Teagan is a home schooler who studies theater at the Wheelock Family Theater in Boston
and voice with Stacie Pirozzi, owner of the Bella Voce studio in Newton.  Teagan’s film
work includes the role of Molly in Jodom Pictures’ A House Divided.  She has done

James Tallach originates from Scotland and works locally as an actor/director/dialect

Steve Triebes

Steve is a versatile actor, equally comfortable in comedic and dramatic pieces, and
places roles in a range of 25 to 35. Having trained in theatre at Rice University, he
has performed in theatre, film and TV commercials across the country. Most recently
seen playing several roles in CentAStage’s production of “Plays on Tap” and as George
in “Getting Some Air” at the SWAN Day event at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, Steve
just returned from the International Presentation of Performers competition in Los Angeles

Carl Schwaber

Carl Schwaber  /  special skills baritone singer; speak French and Hebrew
performed in Jay Hanagan's Along for the Ride, produced in Boston at Devanaughn
Theatre and then in New York City, where it took first place at the Samuel French
Short Play Festival.  He earned a Best Actor nomination for his role in Paul Kahn's
Speechless, staged at Arlington Friends of the Dr ama.  Previous performances include
Much Ado About Nothing (Ubiquity Stage), Tennessee Williams’ Not About
Nightingales (Boston Theatre Works), and Paula Vogel’s The Baltimore Waltz
(Atlantis Playmakers).  Television appearances include a commercial for the used-car
superstore Autolines, the PBS program, John and Abigail Adams ,and a Science
Channel documentary on H.G. Wells and Jules Verne entitled Prophets of Science
Fiction .  Voice-over work includes a 30-second radio spot for Comcast and a 
30-second televison spot for York Auto Body, produced by Comcast.  He is the
author of The Long Way Home - a dramatic adaptation for secondary school
students of Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey (Meriwether Press, 1993).  Carl
is a graduate of Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) and is currently employed

Phil Thompson

Phil was last seen as Connor in Image Theatre’s production of Distant Music and
will appear this fall in Dead City at Theatre Zone.  Phil was also recently seen in
Race at Charlestown Working Theatre (White Man # 2).  Other appearances include:
By The Bog of Cats (Xavier Cassidy), Simpatico (Simms) at the Devanaughn Theatre, 
Triple Play an original musical at Image Theatre and Tony in Tit For Tat at the Theatre
Cooperative.  He has appeared in dinner theatre, summer stock and various companies
in the Boston area. Phil has also appeared on television in the daytime drama, All My
Children and been a back-up vocalist for television an d radio commercials.

Andrew Wetmore

Andrew Wetmore is a playwright and actor living in Lowell. He recently adapted
the entire Bible as an audio script--the New Testament part won Audio Book of
the Year in June 2007. He was seen as Anton Chekhov in "Chekhov and Pinter
take a (pause)" at the 2007 Festival and on Newton Television, and has worked
during the past year with Image Theater in Lowell and Yellow Taxi Productions in
Nashua, NH. He is comfortable with cold readings and last-minute requests, and

Karen Wagner

Karen Wagner is a new member of the AIR program. She has a B.A. in Theater from
Antioch College, and is a recent graduate of Improv Boston University. She has
also taught Improvisational Theater at the Center for Arts in Natick. Favorite
stage roles include: Reggie Fluty and seven other characters (The Laramie
Project, Amazing Things Theater Company), Doris Walker (Miracle on 34th Street,
TCAN Players), Vera (The Odd Couple -- Female Version), Ma Bailey (It's a
Wonderful Life, TCAN Players), and Mrs. Merkel (Bye Bye Bird ie, Metrowest Family
Theater). In 2006, she participated in TCAN's Seven Ages Festival of New Works,
playing the role Cyn in a monologue from Kelly DuMar's Away Message: What Belly
Dancers Know. Karen also sings and is competent with most dialects.

Alicia Zipp

Age Range: 35 plus

Alicia M. Zipp is very pleased to be part of this season’s Playwrights Platform
Actors in Residence program. Most of her work in the last few years has either been
in film - working those crazy twelve hour days on numerous movie and TV sets, or in
music - as lead singer for the rock band Catbasket. Now that her 15 year old son has
begun his own acting career, she is free to resume working in theatre, where her
greatest thrill has always been the opportunity to work on new material. She is
also happy to report that she can be seen onscreen in the recent film Evening
